I have been watching one of my competitors and they are always running special promotions on social media. Can I do the same thing?

When you think about social media marketing, the best analogy is to think of it in terms of a hearing aid versus a bullhorn. Social media, when used correctly, helps you to better understand what your audience really wants to hear, and helps to create opportunities for “small talk” that strengthen your mindshare, trust, and develop brand loyalty.

On the other hand, using social media as a bullhorn to amplify your brand through promotion should be used strategically so that your audience doesn’t tire of your message and you lose fans/followers. As a general rule, we recommend that the majority of post content is somewhere between 80-90% engaging content and 10-20% for self-promotional content.
